AUTHORISATION TO POSESS A FIREARM WITH APPROVED LICENCE WITHOUT LICENCE CARD

Dear Member,
Due to the delay experienced by some applicants in getting their licence cards printed, after the licence has been approved, SAPS / CFR has issued a Directive which will now allow for DFO's to print an A4 Authorisation / Permit, which will be an interim proof until such time as the Card has been printed and collected.
Please take note of two issues that might arise in this process:
1. Some instances of permit printing malfunctions was reported - this would result in the instruction being invalidated and the applicant would then not be able to request a printed permit again for that licence.
2. It has been reported that once a Licence Card has been printed already (but not delivered yet), that you might not be able to request for a printed permit.We would thus urge members to first make contact with their DFO's to rule out both of the above points before proceeding to apply for such permits.
